Hospital Gets Green Light for Cardiac Services
Dec 01, 2012
Ramsay Health Care has announced that its new hospital being built at Kawana will open with a new state-of-the-art cardiac catheter laboratory, ensuring that Sunshine Coast residents will have access to the latest cardiac diagnostic and interventional services into the future.
Following approval received by Queensland Health, Ramsay's Sunshine Coast University Private Hospital (SCUPH) will open with one cardiac catheter laboratory initially but has plans for two or more laboratories to open in line with demand into the future.
Hospital CEO Kimberley Pierce said cardiac services would be one of the major specialties for private patients at the hospital and one that Ramsay Health Care planned to expand in the future.
"With an expanding and ageing population on the Sunshine Coast, the demand for cardiac services is going to increase and we are looking forward to providing a comprehensive cardiac service at SCUPH," Ms Pierce said.
A number of experienced cardiologists are committed to joining the hospital and together with these specialists, SCUPH plans to provide a premier cardiac service for the Sunshine Coast community.
