Less than nine months to go

Mar 19, 2013

With less than nine months until the first patients are admitted, Ramsay Health Care's Sunshine Coast University Private Hospital development continues to progress well, being approximately 71% time based complete.

Recent construction progress includes continued work on the facade. Permanent power to the site was achieved late last year, with the tower crane dismantled in December. Northern Cross Street, including the hospital drop off zone, has been sealed.

The internal works are also progressing well, with the commencement of flooring and joinery finishing trades. Wall sheeting to four of the six operating theatres has been completed and all major packages have been procured. The remaining civil and roadworks are also well underway.

Upcoming milestones will include the completion of the facade in the coming weeks, completion of pressure testing to the operating theatres, commencement of the Northern Bus Street intersection with Kawana Way and completion of ceiling sheeting and floor finishes to the theatres.

Due to open at the end of the year, the 200 bed hospital will provide a range of medical and surgical services with onsite facilities including six state-of-the-art operating theatres, day surgery unit, cardiac catheter laboratory, day oncology unit and an eight bed intensive care unit. The four storey hospital will contain all single patient rooms with ensuites.

A significant range and volume of services will be provided to public patients through a service purchase agreement with Queensland Health whilst the Sunshine Coast University Hospital is being built and commissioned.
