SCUPH announces start of Cardiac Surgery Program
Sep 08, 2017
Later this year, the Sunshine Coast University Private Hospital will commence its Cardiac Surgery program. Encouraged by committed surgeons, anaesthetists and perfusionists, SCUPH has invested heavily in training and equipment for a service patients have up to now had to travel to Brisbane to access. SCUPH anticipates that the Sunshine Coast’s first ever elective cardiac valve operation will occur in November of this year. This advance is consistent with the regional strategy of providing healthcare services for Sunshine Coast patients close to home and is a mark of the growing maturity of the hospital and the region.
The service will be led by a group of experienced surgeons who will be resident on the Sunshine Coast and who do or have held substantive public appointments.
