Dr Vikas Gupta is an Australian and internationally trained Gastroenterologist and Interventional Endoscopist. He is dedicated to providing his patients with best practice evidence-based care. Along with his colleagues he is committed to bringing tertiary level endoscopic services to the Coast.
Vikas was born and raised in Sydney and graduated Medicine with Honours from the University of New South Wales. Following completion of his core Gastroenterology and Hepatology training at Westmead Hospital and its renowned endoscopy unit, he completed an Interventional Endoscopy fellowship at Liverpool Hospital in Sydney.
Subsequently he was accepted into the prestigious Advanced Therapeutic Endoscopy fellowship at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, Canada. Since then he has also completed a Fellowship in hepatopancreatobiliary medicine with a focus on therapeutic endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) and Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangio-Pancreatography (ERCP) at Hôpital Privé Jean Mermoz in Lyon, France - one of the highest volume advanced endoscopy centres in Europe.
Vikas is a passionate advocate for quality and safety in endoscopy and is the clinical lead for this at the Sunshine Coast University Hospital. He is accredited by the Conjoint Committee for Recognition of Training in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (CCRTGE).
Vikas enjoys raising his young family on the Sunshine Coast, loves sport and remains a Blues supporter despite relocating to Queensland.
