Coast’s newest hospital to open in two months

The opening of the Sunshine Coast’s newest private hospital is now only two months away.

Sunshine Coast University Private Hospital will open its door to patients on Monday 4 November 2013.

The building program is now 96% complete, with final works in progress. 

The onsite tenancy fitout has commenced, with pharmacy, pathology and radiology fitouts underway. Landscaping works are progressing well, and asphalting of the roads and at-grade parking areas has commenced. The remaining external canopies and shelters have been completed. Final defecting to the internal building is underway. 

Approximately 130 workers are onsite every day, with more than 700,000 construction man hours completed to date.

Hospital CEO Kimberley Pierce said it was exciting to see the construction works coming to an end.

“After close to two years of construction, we are now only two months away from welcoming our first patients,” Ms Pierce said.

“Sunshine Coast University Private Hospital will deliver a comprehensive range of inpatient and day services across a wide range of specialties, providing increased private hospital capacity and choice for patients on the Sunshine Coast.”

The 200 bed private hospital will contain all single patient rooms with ensuites. Onsite facilities will include six state-of-the-art operating theatres, day procedure room, day surgery unit, cardiac catheter laboratory, day oncology unit and intensive care unit. Medical consulting suites, pathology and radiology services are also located onsite.
