Dr Mark Johnson is a Specialist Cardiologist with an interest in cardiac imaging.
Mark is a graduate of the University of Queensland and completed his basic Physician training and training in Clinical Pharmacology at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. He went on to complete his Cardiology advanced training at the Royal Brisbane and Prince Charles Hospitals. To further his training he completed a two year clinical and research fellowship in Cardiac imaging at St Paul’s Hospital, Vancouver, Canada. During this fellowship he gained extensive experience in all areas of cardiac imaging including transthoracic and transoesophageal echocardiography, stress echocardiography, CT coronary angiography and cardiac magnetic resonance imaging. He is board certified in CT coronary angiography.
Mark has been involved in research into low radiation dose CT coronary angiography and CT and echocardiographic assessment for transcatheter valve therapies. He also co-authored a book chapter on echocardiographic guidance of cardiac procedures.
In 2010, Mark moved to the Sunshine Coast to work at Nambour General Hospital as the inaugural Clinical Director of the Cardiac Investigation Unit, where he helped establish the new Cardiac Investigation Unit and develop Cardiac Imaging services at Nambour General Hospital. He consults at Sunshine Coast University Private Hospital.
