Dr Matthew Tung

MBBS (Hons) MPH (Distinction) FRACP Grad. Dip. (Cardiac EP)

Dr Matthew Tung is a Specialist Cardiologist with an interest in electrophysiology, management of atrial fibrillation and inherited cardiac arrhythmias.  He currently holds a senior staff cardiologist appointment at the Sunshine Coast University Hospital and consults at Sunshine Coast University Private Hospital.

After completing his medical degree at Monash University he began residency at Monash Health and then completed training in cardiology at MonashHEART, University Hospital Geelong and Bendigo Hospital.

Matthew then completed three years of subspecialty training in cardiac rhythm management (cardiac electrophysiology).  His first year was undertaken at one of Melbourne’s busiest cardiology departments (MonashHEART) with his next two years completed at Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, Canada.  The high volume training environment allowed Matthew to further develop expertise in complex cardiac ablation and device implantation.

In addition to his subspecialty training Matthew obtained a Masters in Public Health and maintained a keen interest in research and education publishing in multiple peer reviewed journals.  He is a senior lecturer at Griffith University’s School of Medicine and is involved in physician training at Sunshine Coast University Hospital.
