Dr Graeme Hart

MBChB (Otago), FRACS

Dr Hart is a Cardiothoracic Surgeon specialising in adult cardiac surgery and adult thoracic surgery consulting and operating at Sunshine Coast University Private Hospital.

He completed his basic medical training at Otago University in Dunedin and 6 years General Practice training in New Zealand, followed by Specialist training in both New Zealand and Australia.

Following the completion of Specialist training he spent time gaining experience in adult Cardiac Surgery at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, Scotland and Lung Transplant Surgery at the prestigious Royal Papworth Cardiothoracic Hospital in Cambridge, England.

In 2004 he was appointed as a staff Cardiothoracic Surgeon specialising in adult Cardiac Surgery and Lung Transplantation Surgeon at the Prince Charles Hospital.  He maintained the Queensland Lung Transplant Service for many years.

Since 2008 Dr Hart has worked as a Cardiac Surgeon and minimally invasive Thoracic Surgeon at the Wesley Hospital in Brisbane.

Graeme is passionate about teaching both medical students and senior training Registrars.  He teaches Bond and Griffith University students in a surgical clinical setting and Structural Anatomy to University of Queensland students in the Anatomy Lab.

He is committed to expanding his practice at Sunshine Coast University Private Hospital.  Please feel free to refer Cardiac Surgical patients or those with pulmonary, pleural, lung or wall chest lesions for an opinion.
